Malaysia Welcomes Sixth Prime Minister

Malaysia will witness another historic moment today as it welcomes Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the sixth prime minister with a swearing-in ceremony at Istana Negara.
Najib, 55, who takes over the premiership from Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, will take his oath of office before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, in a high-key ceremony.
With the passing of the baton, the scion of the second prime minister, the late Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, is set to carry on the legacies of his predecessors to spur the country to greater success amid the current economic uncertainties.
These also will be the nation record's as the first father and son who's took the oath as Prime Minister.

At about 4pm, outgoing prime minister Abdullah will officially hand over the duties to Najib in a ceremony at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya.
In the evening, Najib will return to his Jalan Duta residence for tahlil and doa selamat prayers and will be on air to address the nation at 8.10pm.
